Sibley, IA Anna Jean (Van Beest) Potter, age 68 of Sibley, died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 14th, at United Church of Christ Congregational in Sibley, with Rev. Terry Simm officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley. Visitation will be Wednesday, June13th, from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Walton-Roste Funeral Home of Sibley. Anna Jean (Van Beest) Potter was born on April 13, 1939, the daughter of Kobus and Siena (Huls) Van Beest in Sibley, Iowa. She attended Sibley High School. She worked at Sibley Egg and Poultry, until she was united in marriage to Harold A. Potter in Worthington, MN on May 24, 1956. The couple moved to California where they lived in several places. While living in California she worked for Newhaven Unified school district in Union City, CA, and was also active in the P.T.A. Anna Jean and Harold later moved to Sibley where she worked at the nursing homes. She was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Sibley, where she was active in the Womens Fellowship. Anna was a lover of children and was always there for anyone that needed her. She loved doing crafts, especially at Christmas time, making everyone a new ornament. She enjoyed rummage sales, where she bought jewelry and cleaned it up, to give to the nursing home residents as Bingo prizes. She also played Santa at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab. She loved the outdoors, watching the birds and watching Harold tinker with his projects. Anna was a collector of many things; music boxes, teapots, spoons, dolls, antiques and blue delft ware. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, eating at the Pizza Ranch, Royal Fork, and the families tea parties. She was survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Harold Potter of Sibley; four children, Siena LaVonne Potter of Sacramento CA, Harold Allan Potter of Manteca, CA, John Michael Potter of San Lorenzo, CA and Patrick Henry (wife Patty) Potter of San Jose, CA; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; five siblings, William Bill Van Beest of Sibley, Grace Veen of Sibley, Koby (wife Pepper) Van Beest of McKinney, TX, Elmer (wife Lylliss) Van Beest of Sibley and John (wife Dianne) Van Beest of Sibley; four sisters-in-law, Ethel Van Beest of Linden, Michigan, Burdell ODarisen of Worthington, MN, Leah Hieronimus of Worthington and Janet Ward of Orange, CA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kobus and Siena Van Beest, one brother Henry Van Beest and one sister Joyce Van Beest-Pecenka. Blessed be her memory.
