Little Rock, IA Kay Siebsen, age 83 of Little Rock, IA died Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, IA with Rev. Scott Burdsall, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery at Lester, IA. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7th from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. Karolyn Kay (Kuhl) Siebsen was born August 1, 1924, at Hinton, IA the daughter of Leo and Jean (Davis) Kuhl. As a young girl, Kay lived in many places due to her fathers occupation as a depot agent. Kay graduated from Correctionville High School in 1942. Upon completing her high school education she enrolled at Morningside College in Sioux City, IA, graduating with a degree in music. On June 15, 1947, Kay was united in marriage to Charles Siebsen at the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids. The newly wed couple made their home in various towns in Iowa and in 1960, they moved back to the area and in 1962, to Little Rock, IA. She was a dedicated teacher and taught elementary school for many years and worked at the Sioux Center Library. Chuck and Kay enjoyed spending time together and on August 9, 1981, Chuck passed away. During her life she and Chuck would take afternoon rides to where ever the road led. Kay kept herself busy and involved in many activities. She was proud of her family and loved attending her grandchildrens activities at school and at church; she also enjoyed nature, playing piano, playing cards, especially pinochle, and crossword puzzles. She was active in her church playing organ for over 30years; serving on many church boards, teaching Sunday school and confirmation classes and was a past trustee. She also was active in her community in Womens Club and Order of Eastern Star. This past Monday evening, May 5, 2008, Kay died unexpectedly at the Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids at the age of eighty-three. She is survived by her two daughters, Kristin and her husband, Merlin Ver Steeg of Little Rock, IA; Mary Jo and her husband, ElDon Maxwell of Rock Rapids, IA; five grandchildren, Tom (Shellie) Ver Steeg of Little Rock, IA; Laura (Jeff) Kruse of Little Rock, IA; Elizabeth (Tim) Nickerson of Blair, NE; Bill (Stacie) Ver Steeg of Little Rock, IA; and Scott (Sheila) Maxwell of Rock Rapids, IA; eleven great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Robert (Dorothy) Siebsen of Ham Lake, MN; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Kuhl of Denison, IA and Norma Richardson of Portland, OR. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Jean; husband, Charles; two brothers, Robert and William Kuhl.
