Judie Koerselman, age 68 of Boyden, IA died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at her residence in Boyden. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Bryan Anderson officiating. A time of fellowship and lunch will follow the memorial service at the Demco Center in Boyden. Visitation with the body present will be Tuesday, April 14th from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Mrs. Judith Ann (Dethmers) Koerselman was born January 9, 1941, at Boyden, IA the daughter of Robert and Minnie (Van Veldhuizen) Dethmers. Judie was raised in Boyden and attended Boyden High School. She continued her education at the University of Iowa, School of Nursing for one year. Judie was united in marriage to James E. Koerselman on December 22, 1961 and to this union were born three beautiful children. Judie and Jim made their home in Minneapolis for a year and also in Kansas City for one year before moving back home to Boyden, where they have resided for forty-five years. Judie worked at Demco Manufacturing for several years before staying at home to raise her family. In 1985, Jim and Judie purchased the Travel Advantage where Judie worked for several years before retiring. In her leisure time she enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world, spending time at their home on West Lake Okoboji or taking family trips. Family was very dear to her, all of her grandchildren will remember the Special Days that grandma had in store for them. She could often be found watching the Iowa Hawkeyes football or basketball games on television or doing handy work, making afghans or enjoying a good book. Over the past twenty years, Judie struggled with some health problems. This past Saturday afternoon, April 11, 2009, Judie died at her home near Boyden at the age of sixty-eight. She is survived by her husband, James Jim Koerselman of Boyden; three children, Kimberly A. and her husband, Kevin Ten Haken of Boyden; Robert J. and his wife, Laura Koerselman of Boyden; and Jayme L. and his wife, Erinn Koerselman of Seattle, WA; along with seven grandchildren, Kelsey Ten Haken, Kylen Ten Haken, Kendall Ten Haken, Kaleb Ten Haken, Hailey Koerselman, James J.C Koerselman and Laiken Koerselman. Judith Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Minnie Dethmers; and a sister, Linda Sittser.
