Steen, MN Margaret Kitchenmaster, age 76 of Steen, MN died Mon. April 21, 2008, at her home near Steen, MN. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Thurs. April 24th at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. George Clausen officiating. Burial will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Steen, MN. Visitation will be Wed. April 23rd from 2 " 8 PM, with the family present from 6 " 8 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids. Margaret Harriet (Blau) Kitchenmaster was born on March 20, 1932 in George, IA to Harry and Margaret (Duin) Blau. She received her education and graduated from the George school system. On May 14, 1957 Margaret was united in marriage to Norman Kitchenmaster at the Zion Presbyterian Church near George, IA. The couple made their home on a farm near Steen, MN where they lived their entire married lives of over 50 years. She enjoyed being outdoors working in the vegetable and flower gardens, as well as helping with the livestock and other farm duties. She was also known to be a wonderful cook, both for her family and the men who would help on the farm. Margaret was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. Her faith and her family were the joys of her life. She seemed to always have the radio tuned to a Christian station listening to music and ministry messages through out the day. Margarets daughters and Norman will remember her as a lady of great faith and strength, always putting others before herself. She would so often take the time to sit at her kitchen table watching the beauty of Gods creation as the sun would rise or set. Margaret loved to play the organ and piano. Her selections of choice were hymns, and she played beautifully by ear. Her best friend Velva Korthals meant so much to Margaret. The sisters spent countless hours over the years chatting and enjoying each others company. This past Monday, April 21st, Margaret passed away at her home. She will be greatly missed. Margaret is survived by her husband, Norman; two daughters, Beverly Kitchenmaster of Sioux Falls, SD, and Marsha Kitchenmaster of Rock Rapids, IA; six siblings, Frederick (Nancy) Blau of Reading, MN, Harry (Barbara) Blau of Sibley, IA, Geraldine (Lorne) Harms of Clear Lake, SD, and Veda Klaassen of Luverne, MN, Velva Korthals of George, IA, Nina (Arie) Zylstra of Turlock, CA, and sister-in-law Dorothy Blau of Brainerd, MN; one brother-in-law, Louis Kitchenmaster of Rock Rapids, IA, four sisters-in-law, Ella Weber of Luverne, MN, Florence Kitchenmaster and Nora Ranschau, both of Rock Rapids, IA, and Doris (Pete) Stegenga of Madison, SD and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Margaret Blau; brothers, Bernard and his wife, Ann Blau, Kenneth Blau; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Emma and John Kitchenmaster; brothers-in-law, Marion Korthals, Donald Klaassen, Harold Weber and Carl Ranschau.
