Doon, IA Jennie Ten Braak, age 86 of Doon, IA died unexpectedly Sunday, May 26, 2013 at her home in Doon. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM on Thursday May 30th, 2013 at First Reformed Church in Doon, IA with Rev. Don Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Doon. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 29th, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, IA. Jennie Ten Braak was born June 6, 1926 at George, IA the daughter of Fred and Tena (Groenewold) Hilbrands. She was raised on a farm, attended country school and graduated from George High School. She went on to UNI College and received her Teaching degree. She taught country school for five years. On June 3, 1949 she was united in marriage to Henry Ten Braak at the Hope Reformed Church at George, IA. They moved to Doon and were blessed with three daughters. She was the President of Doon Senior Citizens, and a member of the Ladies Aid, Legion auxiliary for 63 years, Historical Society, Foster Grandparent Program and World Home Bible League. She is survived by her daughters, Marlene Vande Berg of Raleigh, NC; Ruth Ten Braak of Raleigh, NC; and Nancy (Kevin) Naddy of Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren, Megan Naddy of Maple Grove, MN; John Naddy of Maple Grove, MN; Philip (Michelle) Vande Berg and their son John Henry of Norristown, PA; brother, Harvey (Hilda) Hilbrands of George, IA; brother, Stanley (Erma) Hilbrands of Luverne, MN; sister-in-law, Lucille (Don) Smit of Hull, IAl; and sister, Vera (Bert) Teunissen of Zeeland, MI; brothers and sisters in-law, Chris (Judy) Ten Braak of Wichita, KS; Martha Anderson of Doon, IA; Jen Stallman of Hartley, IA; Andy (Glorianne) Ten Braak of Rapid City, SD; Carol Ten Braak of Sheldon, IA. Jennie was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, Henry Ten Braak; brothers, Alfred and Abe; granddaughter, Leah Vande Berg. In lieu of flowers family wishes memorials be directed to Doon First Reformed Church or Foster Grandparent Program.
