Sibley, IA Donald H. Buysman, age 85 of Sibley, Iowa died Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the Country View Manor in Sibley. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, August 17th at First Reformed Church in Sibley, IA, with Rev. Gary Van Heukelom officiating. Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Sunday, August 16th from 12:00 to 5:00 PM, with the family present from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Donald Howard Buysman was born May 15, 1924 in Melvin, Iowa, the son of Harry and Josie (Elgersma) Buysman. He was raised in the Melvin and Sibley area where he attended country school. After school he farmed north of Sibley. On October 22, 1952 Donald was united in marriage to Marlys Wesselink in Sibley, IA. Donald, along with his wife, Marlys continued to farm north of Sibley. They were blessed with the birth of a daughter, Debra. Don and Marlys worked together farming and also with house hold chores, such as cleaning and cooking. In 2002, Don retired from farming and turned the farm over to his grandson, Michael. In 2006, Don and Marlys moved to their home in Sibley. Don was a member of First Reformed Church in Sibley. He and Marlys enjoyed playing cards and games, and attending their grandchildrens events. In April of 2009 Don entered Country View Manor in Sibley, due to his failing health. Dons family will remember their husband, father and grandfather as a loving, hard working man, with a sense of humor. Even through the struggles with his health, Don maintained his sense of humor and positive attitude. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marlys (Wesselink) Buysman of Sibley, IA; a daughter, Debra (husband, Loren) Hulstein of Sheldon, IA; two grandchildren, Michael and Rachel Hulstein, both of Sheldon, IA; a brother, Lester Buysman of Heron Lake, MN; a sister-in-law, Ivadelle Buysman of Sibley; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parent, Harry and Josie Buysman; a brother, Clarence Buysman; three sisters, Jeanette Tamminga, Harriet Janssen and an infant sister, Harriet Buysman.
