Bertil Magnuson

Inwood, Iowa Bertil Magnuson Jr., age 63 of Inwood, Iowa died Thursday, May 10, 2007 at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, May 14th at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. George Clausen officiating. Burial will follow at Our Saviors Cemetery at rural Inwood, IA. Visitation will be Sunday, May 13th from 2 " 8 PM, with the family present from 6 " 8 PM at the Roste Funeral Home of Larchwood. Bertil Magnuson, Jr. was born on May 2, 1944 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of Bertil and Olive (Olson) Magnuson. He was raised on the family farm near Inwood, IA and attended country school through 6th grade. He then attended Junior High School in Inwood, and graduated from West Lyon High School in 1962. After graduation he continued to farm with his family. Bert was united in marriage on August 9, 1964 to Barbara Moser at the English Lutheran Church of Larchwood, IA. Together, they started their journey as a farm family near Inwood, IA, and were blessed with four children. Farming and caring for his livestock were his lifes passion. He loved spring time on his farm, working with the new calves and planting his crops. He passed his love of farming onto his sons, Todd and Eric. He was a member of the English Lutheran Church of Larchwood. He enjoyed collecting various things, such as coins, tractors, ect.. A fond memory of his was their 40th Wedding Anniversary in August of 2004. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara of Inwood, IA; four children, Holly and her husband, Leon Rozeboom of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Todd and his wife, Michele Magnuson of Canton, SD, Amy and her husband, Terry Grotewold of Larchwood, IA and Eric and his wife, Amy Magnuson of Inwood, IA; ten grandchildren, Paul, Ryan and Jordan Rozeboom, Levi and Parker Magnuson, Cody and Caitlyn Grotewold, Taylor, Travis and Syra Magnuson; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence and his wife, Grace Moser of Sanborn, IA, Roger and his wife, Nel Moser of Lester, IA, three sisters-in-law, Nancy and her husband, Richard Kalb of Hartford, SD, Merry and her husband, Jerry Baatz of Larchwood, IA and Wilma Moser of Lester, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertil and Olive Magnuson.
