John Roger Howard

George, Iowa John Howard, age 73 of George, IA died on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 22nd at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, IA, with Pastor Bryan Anderson & Pastor Oryn Meinerts officiating. Visitation will be Friday, March 21st from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home of George. John Roger Howard was born on February 9, 1941 in Caldwell, Idaho, adopted son of Kenneth C. and Celia C. (Grodahl) Howard. He grew up in Caldwell, Idaho and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1959. After graduating he attended the University of Idaho and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. On September 1, 1962, John was united in marriage to Audrey Ann Crosby. To this union three children were born John Michael Howard and twins, Kimberly Ann Howard and Kristian Kenneth Howard. The couple lived various places throughout their married life such as Caldwell, Idaho, Miles City, Montana, Portland, Oregon, Twin Falls, Idaho, Roseburg, Oregon and Meridian, Idaho. John and Audrey were married for thirty-seven years when Audrey passed away on November 11, 1999. John's employment during that time was Standard Oil in the late 1960's and early 1970's; owner and operator of John R. Howard & Associate Realtors and his latest employment was for TAB Products in Portland, Oregon. On February 17, 2001, John married Marlene (Vust) Greene in Portland, Oregon. They had been married for thirteen years until John's passing this past Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the age of 73. Throughout John's life he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eagle Scouts and enjoyed fishing, woodworking and music. He will be greatly missed. John is survived by his wife Marlene Howard of George, IA; two children: John Michael (Mary) Howard of Bigfork, Montana and Kimberly Ann Howard of Eugene, OR; two step-children: Matt (Lynn) Greene of Vancouver, WA and Rachel (Jason) Evans of Beaverton, OR; and one granddaughter Madi Evans. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Celia Howard; wife Audrey Ann Howard and son Kristian Kenneth Howard.
