George, IA Dorothy Van Briesen, age 79 of George, IA died February 21, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center in George. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, IA with Rev. Bryan Anderson, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Roste Funeral Home of George. Dorothy (Bosch) Van Briesen was born January 14, 1928 at Rock Rapids, IA the daughter of Edward and Jennie (Boer) Bosch. Dorothy grew up in the Rock Rapids area and started country school near Inwood and finished her education at Rock Rapids. On December 30, 1960, Dorothy was united in marriage to Dwayne Van Briesen at the Bethel Reformed Church parsonage of rural Ellsworth, MN. They made their home in George. Over the years, Dorothy held several jobs which included; working as a hired girl for various families, a clerk at the Golden Rule Variety Store in Rock Rapids; Worthmore, where she kenneled eggs; JC Penney in Rock Rapids and various other business' in George. Before she retired she worked for many years in the kitchen for John and Peggy Stegeman at Johns Steakhouse in George. In January of 1983, Dwayne died ending their marriage of twenty-three years. Dorothy enjoyed working outside and playing Bingo, she was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of George. On October 2, 2001, Dorothy became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in George where she died this past Wednesday morning, February 21, 2007, at the age of seventy-nine. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Julee and her husband, Dave Lund of George; one granddaughter, Morgan Lund of George; three brothers, Andrew Bosch of Hills, MN; Art and his wife, Lucille Bosch of Rock Rapids; Henry and his wife, Dorothy Bosch of Rock Rapids; and one sister, Alice and her husband, Walter Kellen of Adrian, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne; her parents, Edward and Jennie; a brother and sister in infancy.
