Sibley, IA Roland M. Frey, age 95 of Sibley, IA died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Country View Manor in Sibley. Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 18, 2011 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, with Reverend Terry Simm officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Roland Marvin Frey was born on September 19, 1915, the son of August and Emma (Brost) Frey. Roland grew up in the Tripp, SD area. On September 6, 1939, he was united in marriage to Verola Tiede in Parkston, SD. The couple farmed south of Allendorf, IA for thirty-two years, and then moved to Sibley. Rolands wife, Verola, died June 28, 1978. Roland worked as a custodian for the Sibley Public Schools for a time and later worked for Sibley Super Foods. On October 30, 1980, he married Lillian Nebelsick in Algona, IA and spent many years residing in Worthington, MN. Roland was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley. He was a devoted reader of the Bible. He enjoyed making various wooden toys for his family and others and loved fishing, especially taking his grandsons. He also used his farming skills becoming an avid gardener. Roland is survived by one son, Dennis (wife, Jan) Frey of Spirit Lake, IA; three grandsons, Tim (wife, Crystal) Frey, Andy Frey both of Minneapolis, MN and Josh Frey of Sioux Falls, SD; one great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Frey; step-children, Arnold (wife, Melissa) Nebelsick, Ardyce (husband, Jim) Conley, Audrey (husband, Glenn) Rice and Aletha Nebelsick. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Verola Frey; one sister, Ruby Jans and two brothers, Irvin and Julius Frey.
