Elizabeth Moser

August 10, 1913 — December 27, 2007

Rapid City, SD/Lester, IA Elizabeth Moser, 94 of Rapid City, and formerly of Lester, died Thursday December 27 at Morningstar Assisted Living in Rapid City. Funeral services will be at the First United Methodist Church in Rapid City, on Wednesday, January 2 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery at Lester, Iowa, on Friday, January 4 at 1:00 pm. Elizabeth (Vande Vooren) Moser was born August 10, 1913 at Sioux Center Iowa, the first daughter of John and Jennie (Van Wyhe) Vande Vooren. She grew up in the Lester, Iowa area and graduated from high school in 1931. Elizabeth attended Morningside College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught in rural Lyon County schools and 2nd grade in Ruthven, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Martin Moser, May 27, 1937 in Rock Rapids, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Lester and Inwood, Iowa area for 36 years. After the death of her husband Martin, who died January 1974, she moved to Rapid City in November of 1975 to be near her daughter, Mary Springhetti. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Lester, Iowa, where she played the piano, taught Sunday School for 30 years and was actively involved with the United Methodist Women. She was also active in the Lyon County Farm Bureau and the Logan Loafers Extension Club. When she moved to Rapid City she became a member of the First United Methodist Church, UMW, Wesleyan Circle and the XYZ senior citizen group of the church in which she served as president for 5 years. Elizabeth was a faithful, active volunteer in the gift shop at Rapid City Regional Hospital for 12 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to her children. Survivors include her daughter Mary Springhetti and husband Don of Rapid City, and their children; Sara Long and husband Nathan and Laura Springhetti and her husband Siam Oottamassathien and her daughter in law Jean Moser, LaCrosse, Wisconsin and her children, Jill Mullaney and husband Dustin and Jess Moser. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters, her devoted husband Martin Moser, her beloved son Gary Moser and granddaughter Jennie Lynn Moser. Blessed be her Memory. The family suggests memorials to be directed to: Hospice of the Hills, PO Box 6000, Rapid City, SD 57709. Service arrangements are under the direction of the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City and the Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids.
