Russel P. Huisman

Rock Rapids, IA Russel P. Huisman, age 73 of Rock Rapids, IA died Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in George, IA. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 28th at Bethel Reformed Church at rural Ellsworth, MN, with Rev. Gary Hanson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, April 27th from 2 " 8 PM, with the family present from 6 " 8 PM at the Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Russel Palmer Huisman was born June 23, 1933 on the family farm in Lyon County near Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Klaas W. and Anna Huisman. He graduated from Ellsworth High School, Ellsworth, MN in 1951. On September 11, 1982, Russel was united in marriage to Judy Bergman at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA. Russel and Judy farmed his familys farm where he was born and raised. He was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church, rural Ellsworth, MN, where he served as a Sunday school officer, Deacon and Elder. Russel loved fast pitch softball " he was an avid player, manager, and coach. He also enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye sports, camping, and especially attending his son Kendalls activities. On Wednesday, April 25, 2007, Russel died at the Good Samaritan Center in George, Iowa at the age of seventy-three. Russel is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Judy Huisman of Rock Rapids, IA; son, Kendall Huisman of Orange City, IA, where he attends Northwestern College; four siblings, Bernice Walters of Rock Rapids, IA, Anita (husband Virgil) Wiertzema of Worthington, MN, Gerald (Karen) Huisman of Ellsworth, MN and Lorraine (husband Arnold) Baron of Visalia, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Klaas and Anna; two sisters, Pearl Huisman and Gladys Fiihr; and five brothers, George, Weert, Fred, Art, and Clifford Huisman.
