NOTICE: Rock Rapids, IA Jason Bus Moran, age 87 of Rock Rapids, IA died Friday, August 7, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center in George. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Tues., Aug. 11th at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids with Fr. Harry D. McAlpine as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Ellsworth, MN. Visitation will be Mon., Aug. 10th 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. There will also be a vigil service at 7:30 Mon. evening at the Funeral Home. Jason Bus Moran was born January 31, 1922 near Ellsworth, MN to John and Alvina (Kruse) Moran. He attended St. Marys school in Ellsworth and graduated in 1939. Bus worked in construction and as a farm laborer for several area farmers for most of his life. He was also a mechanic at Hubbards in Rock Rapids and at the Huset race track in Brandon, SD during its development. He loved visiting and enjoyed being with his family during get-togethers. He was fond of playing cards and going for walks. In fact, Bus could be seen enjoying the outdoors in all kinds of weather, out for a walk. He also enjoyed volunteering and doing dishes at dinner date. He was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids and a member of the Knights of Columbus. This past Friday, Bus passed away at the Good Samaritan Home in George at the age of 87. His family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the members of the Good Samaritan Society of George and also to the Lyon County Hospice team for their wonderful and compassionate care not only to Bus but to his family as well. He is survived by his sisters, Catherine Gacke of Rock Rapids IA, Mary Jenniges of Ellsworth MN, and Jean Lonneman of Benson, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews, numerous great-nieces and nephews, and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. Bus was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alvina Moran; sisters, Dorothy Moran, Bernice Linssen and Marjorie Ross; and brother, Robert Moran.
