Sibley, Iowa Harry Carlson, age 90 of Sibley, IA died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, IA with Pastor Doug Noonkester officiating. Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Family will be greeting friends at Jurrens Funeral Home the day of the Funeral at 11:00 a.m. Harry Carlson was born May 24, 1922 in Milaca, MN to Swan and Anna (Larson) Carlson. He was raised and received his education in the Milaca, MN area. In 1944 he entered the United States Army and served in the South Pacific in the Army Corps of Engineers where he operated heavy equipment. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Harry did several things for a living over the years. He started out farming and then owned and operated Harrys Caf in Milaca for 8 years. He later worked operating machinery in New Mexico and Idaho in the mining industry. He then moved back to his home area in Minnesota where he worked building boats for the Silverline Company. In 1975 he was united in marriage to Ardith (Larsen) Christians. Harry retired that same year and he and Ardith went to Bigfork, MN where they owned and operated a hobby farm raising Hereford cattle. In 2003 they moved to Sibley where they have remained. This past Saturday, Harry passed away at the Osceola Community Hospital at the age of 90. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Ardith Carlson of Sibley, IA; step-son, Rolland (Nancy) Christians of Chiefland, FL; step-daughter-in-law, Rebecca Price of Sibley, IA; grandchildren, Monique Smith of Sibley, IA, and Kris Christians of Taconite, MN; great-grandchildren, Max, Charles, and Ardith Smith of Sibley, IA, Mary Smith of Eden Valley, MN, Kaylanna and Kelsey Christians of Taconite, MN, and other extended family members. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Martha Wallace of Princeton, MN and Edith Larson of Brainerd, MN.
