Rock Rapids, IA Phyllis Estelle Tow, age 87 of Rock Rapids, IA died March 30, 2010 at the Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, April 2nd at The Congregational United Church of Christ in Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. Dean Shelly officiating. Burial will be at the Worthington Township Cemetery in Worthington, MN. Visitation will be Thursday, April 1st from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Phyllis Estelle Tow was born July 26, 1922, to Edward and Emma (Thompson) Bauman at Brewster, MN. She graduated from Brewster High School. She married Truman R. Tow on September 5, 1942. Phyllis moved to Rock Rapids in April of 1946. Phyllis worked at Brugmanns Drug store in Rock Rapids, and Sencore Electronics in Sioux Falls, SD. In 1974, she began working as an abstractor at Albright Abstract in Rock Rapids, IA. On August 31, 1974, Phylliss husband, Truman died, after 32 years of marriage. She later owned the business with a partner. She ended her career as an abstractor working at Lyon County Title Co. just a few years ago. She was a longtime member of Congregational United Church of Christ in Rock Rapids, and was very active in the church, Red Hat Society, the V.F.W. Womens Auxiliary, Eastern Star, and several bridge clubs. Her favorite pastime was spoiling her grandchildren, and attending their activities and events. Survivors include a daughter, Shelley Walker, of Wrenshall, MN, a son, Timothy, and his wife, Mary, of Elk Point, SD, and three grandchildren, Christopher, Rachael, and Sarah Tow, a sister, Jean Bonnell of Farmington, MN, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a grandson.
