Rock Rapids, Iowa Bert Kluver, age 90 of Rock Rapids, IA died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Sanford Hospital of Rock Rapids. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Sat. March 19, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids with Rev. Dan Kordahl officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, IA. Visitation will be Friday, March 18th from 2 " 8 p.m. with family present from 6 " 8 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Bert Ernest Kluver was born on August 26, 1920, on a farm outside of George, Iowa, the son of Hans and Elizabeth (Blau) Kluver. He attended public school in George, graduating in 1939 from George High School. He continued his schooling at a technical school in Kansas City. On June 6, 1948, he was united in marriage to Frances Lee at Irene Lutheran Church in Irene, South Dakota. They moved to Rock Rapids, where he worked for 36 years for Lyon Rural Electric Co-op as a lineman, foreman and line superintendent. After his retirement, he had a furniture repair business for several years and also spent many hours working on wood carvings. His family will remember Bert as a wonderful dad and grandpa, with a quiet wit and a great appreciation for his family, friends and the good people of Rock Rapids. He is survived by his children Nancy Kluver (Lawrence Syverud) of Mounds View, Minnesota, and Kent Kluver of Rock Rapids. Other survivors include his grandchildren Hadley Syverud of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Cara, Cayla and Kendra Kluver of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; a sister, Lois Nagel, of George, Iowa, as well as nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his sister Viola Faber and his brother John Kluver.
