Ronald "Ron" Kellenberger

Rock Rapids, IA Ronald Ron Kellenberger, age 68 of Rock Rapids, IA died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Rock Rapids Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 3rd at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery at Lester. Visitation will be Friday, April 2nd from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. with the family present at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall. Ronald H. Kellenberger was born October 4, 1941 at Rock Rapids, IA, the son of Henry and Elaine (Grimm) Kellenberger. Ron grew up on his parent's farm near Rock Rapids, IA. He attended the Lester Public School and graduated in 1959. He continued to live and farm with his parents until age 30, when he moved to Sioux Falls, SD. Ron was baptized on January 5, 1964 and became a devoted member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. He began employment with Wells Fargo Bank and worked there for 32 years. After retiring he moved to an assisted living facility in Sioux Falls and remained there for 3 months. He then moved to an apartment in Hills, MN, where Ron acquired many new friends at the Tuff Home. He spent a lot of time at the home where he received a meal each day with the staff and residents. He also enjoyed coffee and conversation with community members at the local caf and gas station. Most important to Ron was his family and church family. In October of 2008 Ron moved to Rock Rapids Health Care Centre in Rock Rapids, IA. There he also made many friends and acquaintances. He remained there until this past Wednesday, March 31, 2010, when Ron died at the age of 68. Ron is survived by eleven siblings, Rosella (Robert) Metzger of Lester, IA, Dennis (Shirley) Kellenberger of Steen, MN, Orlan (Mary) Kellenberger of Lamar, MO, Leroy (Louella) Kellenberger of Beaver Creek, MN, Verlyn (Linda) Kellenberger of Lester, IA, Calvin (Edna) Kellenberger of Lester, IA, Connie (Doug) Bergstrom of Lakeville, MN, Bradley (Teresa) Kellenberger of Sabetha, KS, Suzette (Doug) Messner of Eagan, MN, Curtis (Martha) Kellenberger of Lamar, MO and Ladell (Shelly) Kellenberger of Lester, IA; along with a 35 nieces and nephews; and 65 great-nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elaine Kellenberger; a nephew, Robbie Metzger; a niece, Nichole Messner; and a nephew-in-law, Jerry Nohl.
