Steen, Minnesota Daryl L. Paulsen, age 68 of Steen, MN, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 22, 2014 at his residence near Steen. Public visitation will be Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and then again from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Hills, MN A private family memorial service will be held Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Hills, MN, with Reverend Dean Shelly officiating. Burial will follow in the Flowerfield Cemetery of Hills. Daryl Lee Paulsen was born on August 10, 1945 in Sioux Falls, SD, the son of Curtis and Mildred (Hills) Paulsen. He grew up in Steen, MN and attended Steen grade school and later graduated from Hills High School. On September 22, 1967, Daryl was united in marriage to Marie Mainolfi in Sioux Falls, SD. Following their marriage they moved onto the family farm. Daryl farmed the land until 1986. He then went to work for Rock County Rural Water as an assistant manager from 1981 until his retirement in 2010. Daryl was a member of the United Methodist Church in Luverne, MN. His hobbies included restoring cars, street rods and triple box wagons. He enjoyed watching cowboy western movies, traveling and especially spending time with his family. He was proud to reside on the family farm up until his death. Daryl is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Marie Paulsen of Steen, MN; two children and their families, Steven (Sherry) Paulsen of Steen, MN and children, Tyler (Britny) Paulsen, Tanner, Trevor and Tara Paulsen; Suzanne (Clark) Meyer of Brandon, SD, and their son, Colby Meyer; two brothers, Gary (Carlotte) Paulsen of Ogden, IA and Lou (Joy) Mayer of Cape May, NJ; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Mildred Paulsen.
