Sibley & George, Iowa Frederick D. Kix, age 82 of Sibley, IA died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Sibley Nursing & Rehab in Sibley, IA. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Central Baptist Church in George, IA with Pastor Harry Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George. Visitation will be Friday, July 9, 2010 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Frederick Dwayne Kix was born May 27, 1928, in rural George, Iowa, the son of Henry and Ida (Spieker) Kix. He was raised on a farm north of George and attended country school. After his education, he helped on the family farm. On May 11, 1949, he married Jeanetta Van Dyke. They had two daughters, Karen and Lorae. Karen died in an accident on May 12, 1997. Frederick and Jeanetta farmed near George until 1962 when they moved to a farm northwest of Sibley. In 1983, they moved to their home at 926 9th Street in Sibley. They continued to farm near Sibley and north of Worthington. After retiring from farming in 1990, Frederick worked for the Worthington Daily Globe and Northwest Iowa Publishing. He enjoyed golf, fishing and playing pool with his friends. He always enjoyed his visits with his three grandsons. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in George. Frederick entered the Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center in October of 2007 where he stayed until his death on July 6, 2010. Frederick is survived by his wife, Jeanetta Kix of Sibley, IA; daughter, Lorae (Ray) Johnson of West Des Moines, IA; three grandsons, Michael Schlitter of Redondo Beach, CA, Justin Johnson of Denver, CO and Aaron Johnson of Santa Cruz, CA and; three sisters, Mavis (Don) Rypkema of Sioux Falls, SD, Evelyn Olson of Rock Rapids, IA and Verna Duin of George, IA; three brothers, Larry (Linda) Kix, Harald (Lucy) Kix, both of Rock Rapids, and Stanley Kix of Tishomingo, MS; and many nieces and nephews and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ida Kix; his daughter, Karen Schlitter; infant brother, Clifford and infant sister, Florence.
