Dolores June Gerloff

Little Rock, IA Dolores J. Gerloff age 78 formerly of Little Rock, IA died Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center in Sibley, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, with Reverend Scott Burdsall, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Little Rock. Visitation will be Monday, February 6th at the First Presbyterian Church of Little Rock from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. The Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley is in charge of arrangements. Dolores June Gerloff was born on April 25, 1933, the daughter of Albert and Flora (Bergman) Gerloff in Viola Township, Osceola County, Iowa. She attended Viola #3 Country School and later graduated from Little Rock High School in 1952. At the age of nineteen, Dolores went to work for Northwestern Bell, which later became AT&T until her retirement. She lived various places throughout her life such as Sibley, Sheldon, Spencer, IA and Sioux Falls, SD prior to moving into the Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center in Sibley, Iowa on June 18, 2004. Dolores was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, IA. She was a volunteer at the Sioux Falls Public Library and a life member of Sioux Council Pioneers South Dakota Chapter 119. She loved cats, photography and collecting butterflies. She was an avid reader of magazines and newspapers. Dolores liked flowers, taking an interest in horticulture and was very instrumental in the Pioneer Hug-A-Bear Project at the hospitals in Sioux Falls. Left to cherish her memory are some of her cousins, Brian and Kathryn Gross-Edelman of Sioux City, IA, Merlin Gross of Palm Springs, CA, Mark Gross of Little Rock, IA, Michael Gross of Sioux Falls, SD and Kenny and Mavis Kanengieter and family of Little Rock, IA; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father on September 30, 1998 and her mother on November 13, 1975.
