Rock Rapids, IA Johnnie Mack Grimes, Jr. age 52 of Rock Rapids, IA died suddenly the weekend of July 19, 2008 in Central City, NE. Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 2nd at the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids, with Rev. Anita Bane officiating. Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids is in charge of services. Johnnie Mack Grimes, Jr. was born August, 5, 1955 in Orange, Texas, the son of Johnnie Mack, Sr. and Leli Mae (Le Blanc) Grimes. He was raised in Buna, TX and attended the community school. On July 6, 1985 he was married to Barbara M. Hitchcock in Blackfoot, ID. After their marriage they lived in Pittsburgh, PA from 1983 " 1989 and then moved to Rock Rapids IA where they were blessed with a son, Arthur L. Johnnie worked as an over the road truck driver for thirty-five years, most recently for Signor Trucking, INC. He was a member of the NRA, enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and grill with friends. John also enjoyed helping those less fortunate. John received many safe driving awards over the years from various companies... He didnt get home often but enjoyed attending Arts events when he could. John and Art enjoyed cross country trips together in the truck, traveling through forty-two states. John is survived by his wife, Barbara M. Grimes of Rock Rapids, IA; a son, Arthur L. Grimes of Rock Rapids, IA; mother, Leli Mae Grimes of Katy, TX; a brother, Wilbur (Silvia) Grimes of Katy, TX; a sister, Linda Mae Grimes of Louisiana; and a niece, Letricia Thomas of Boser City, LA; many other extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Mack Grimes, Sr.
