Ashton, IA Evelyn L. Corbett age 95 formerly of Ashton, IA died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Monday, November 26, 2012 at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton, with Father Clinton Honkomp and Father Timothy Hogan as concelebrants. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Ashton. Visitation will be Sunday, November 25th from 4-8 PM with the family present from 6-8 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Ashton. There will be a rosary at 4:00 PM and a vigil service at 7:00 PM Sunday evening. Evelyn Louise Corbett was born on August 26, 1917, the daughter of William and Susan (Leinen) Fettes on a farm nears Ashton, IA. She grew up in the Ashton area and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Ashton and then attended St. Josephs School (Creighton University) of Nursing in Omaha, NE. Evelyn worked for the Sheldon Memorial Hospital for a number of years. She was a member of the St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton and was active with the Catholic Daughters. She will be greatly missed. Evelyn is survived by three children, Judy (Richard) Honkomp of Sheldon, IA, Nancy (Tom) Meinen of Okoboji, IA and John (Cindy) Corbett of Ashton, IA; daughter-in-law, Pat Corbett of Cedar Rapids, IA; ten grandchildren, Father Clinton Honkomp, O.P., Joe (Cheryl) Honkomp, Patrick Honkomp, Julie (Illy) Schultz, Jeff Meinen, Michelle (Mike) Katen, Matt (Jen) Corbett, Jerod Corbett, Paul Corbett and Amie (Dave) Griesse; twelve great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Michelle Corbett; son, James Corbett; grandson, Doug Honkomp; and nine siblings. In lieu of flowers memorial are preferred by the Corbett family.
