Hills, MN Leland Jellema, age 48 of Hills, MN died Friday, November 23, 2007, at the Hospice Cottage in Luverne, MN. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the American Reformed Church, Luverne, MN with Reverend Dave Sikkema officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Luverne. Visitation will be Monday, November 26th, from 4-8 PM with the family present from 6-8 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Hill, MN. Leland Mark Jellema was born on March 4, 1959, the son of Ocke and Jeanette (Harding) Jellema in Luverne, MN. He grew up on a farm by Kenneth, MN, where he attended grade school. Leland later went to high school in Luverne and then attended a school for the handicapped in Mankato, MN. He worked for the Campbell Soup Company for ten years, Hope Haven in Rock Valley for a time and TAC in Worthington, MN. Leland really enjoyed singing with the Nobles Cords Men Group. On August 4, 2004, Leland was united in marriage to Melissa Simmons at the Wedding Chapel in Brandon, SD. The couple has since lived in Hills, MN. Leland was an avid collector of eagles and Minnesota Viking memorabilia. Leland is survived by his wife, Melissa Jellema of Hills; his father, Ocke Jellema of Luverne, MN; one brother, Jim (wife Marilyn) Jellema of Hills; one sister Carroll (husband Allan) Miller of Worthington, MN; and one niece, Jodi (husband Chris) Harnack of Beaver Creek, MN; two nephews, Ryan Jellema (fianc Sara Knigge) of Minneapolis, MN and Wade (wife Kylah) Jellema of Hills; and two great nephew, Easton & Brock Harnack. He was preceded in death by his brother Norman and niece Stacey and his mother, Jeanette in 2003.
