Theresa Kringen, age 47 of Denison, IA, formerly of Rock Rapids, IA died Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the Denison Care Center in Denison, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 1st at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. A luncheon will follow at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be held at Volga, SD at the First Lutheran Cemetery at approximately 2:30 PM, Wednesday afternoon. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 30th from 2:00 to 7:00 PM, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Theresa Jo Kringen was born May 10, 1963 in Brookings, South Dakota, the daughter of Duewain L. and JoAnne (Wattnem) Kringen. She was raised in Volga, SD and attended the community school. At age five Theresa was diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome, a lifelong condition she would battle. In 2nd grade she and her family moved to Rock Rapids, IA, where she attended Central Lyon School until the 10th grade. Theresa was confirmed in 1978 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, and graduated from West Lyon High School in 1982. After her education she worked at Hope Haven for several years. In her 20s she attended the Laura Baker School in Northfield, MN. Then moved to various group homes in Iowa, before she settled in Denison, IA where she lived at the Camelot Group Home and worked at WESCO Industries. On October 14th she entered the Denison Care Center as a result of failing health. Theresa enjoyed crossword puzzles and the company of others. She was a animal lover, especially horses. Theresa is survived by her mother, JoAnne Kringen of Rock Rapids, IA; several cousins, great aunts and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, Duewain Kringen; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
