Rock Rapids, IA Henrietta Timmerman, 85, died Tuesday October 26, 2010 at St Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor Washington. Memorial service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 27th at the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids, IA. Inurnment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Henrietta Timmerman, affectionately called Henri by those who knew her was born August 19, 1925 to Henry and Hattie (Hoff) Scholten in Steen, MN. She went to a country school near Steen, MN and worked at home as a young girl. On March 14, 1946 she was united in marriage to Henry Timmerman. They moved to Minneapolis where Henry worked. Their marriage was blessed with one son Harlan in 1948. In August of 1950 the family moved back to Rock Rapids where Henry worked for the City of Rock Rapids, while Henrietta was a homemaker. Later Henrietta and family moved to Pickstown, SD where Henry worked at the Fort Randall Dam. They later moved to Pierre where Henry worked at the Oahe Dam for the Corps of Engineers. Henrietta cleaned houses and worked in a government building as a custodian. Her husband passed away on October 11, 1974 while in Pierre. After her husbands death Henri moved to Lakewood, CO and worked as a custodian in a government building. In 1996 Henri moved to Bremerton, WA to be with her son and later took care of him until his death from ALS in October, 2004. In 2006 Henri moved into an assisted living home. Henri passed away peacefully on October 26, 2010. She is survived by five sisters-in-law, Sue (Cornielius), Gert (John), Donna (Henry Jr), Dee (Calvin), Leona Walsh and a host of nieces and nephews. Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, seven brothers, Arend, Cornielius, John, Gilbert, Henry Jr, Gerrit, Calvin, and one sister, Elisa.
