George, IA Cecil Bergman age 86 of George, IA died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Iowa Health Home Care Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17th at the George-Little Rock school/multipurpose room in Little Rock with Tim Vaughn and Bruce VanStelton, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Little Rock. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 16th from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Cecil Myron Bergman was born May 7, 1922 to Siefke and Helen (Fisher) Bergman near Little Rock, Iowa. Cecil attended country school near Little Rock. Following his education, he began farming in the Little Rock area. On September 30, 1943 Cecil was united in marriage to Clarice J. De Boer. Shortly after their marriage he was called to active duty to serve his country in World War II. He was a member of Buss-Johnson American Legion Post # 316. The couple spent the majority of their lives farming in the Little Rock area and in 1990, moved to an acreage near George where they were presently residing. Cecil will be remembered as a quiet and gentle man. He loved the farm, but more than that he loved his family. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will have endearing memories of his devotion and love for them. Cecil passed away July 12, 2008 in Des Moines, Iowa as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident June 11 while in route to visit family. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Clarice; daughters, Carol (Lyle) Patten of Bouton, Iowa, Ruby (Ken) Johnson of Independence, Missouri, and Janet Bergman who is engaged in sharing the Gospel message in the Far East and is presently in Europe; and son, JR (Jan) Bergman of Swisher, Iowa. Six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Angela (Bob) Christner and their children Dane and Eva of Boone Iowa, Lyla (Noah) Joseph and their daughter Lily of Bozeman, Montana, Sharon (Andy) Fleming and their daughter Isabella of Kansas City, Missouri, Brian Johnson and daughter Madison of Independence, Missouri, Lisa (Erik) Tatje of West Branch, Iowa and Justin Bergman of Iowa City, Iowa, One brother, John ( Margaret) Bergman of Little Rock, Iowa and sister, Kathryn (Don) Saville of Sheldon, Iowa. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elsie Heeren; and infant sister, Tina Helene Bergman.
