Sibley, Iowa Helen Schroder, age 92 of Sibley, IA died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at First Reformed Church in Sibley, IA with Rev. Gary Van Heukelom, officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery at Sibley, IA. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 18th from 4:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Helen Lydia (Beving) Schroder was born August 6, 1919 in Lyon County Iowa the daughter of Lydia (Kosters) and Rev. Fred J. Beving. Helen attended country school near Avon, SD and later graduated from George High School in George, IA. Helen worked at the bakery in Sibley before she was married. On April 22, 1943, she was united in marriage to Delbert Schroder at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Rushmore, Minnesota. Helen was a loving wife, mother and took pride in being a homemaker. She also worked outside her home at the Caf in Sibley and also at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center. She was an unselfish person, genuine, kind hearted and soft spoken person who could be counted on for anything. She spent many hours in the kitchen baking, canning, making meals for her family and preparing for many family gatherings. She enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren and listening to 50s and 60s music. Helen was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Sibley and later transferred her membership to the First Reformed Church in Sibley. On April 19, 2007, Helen became a resident of the Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center in Sibley where she died this past Sunday morning, July 15, 2012 at the age of ninety-two. She is survived by her children, Roberta (Roger) Kuerbs of Minneapolis, MN; Rodney (Julie) Schroder of Sibley and Tom (Janet) Schroder of Sibley; grandchildren, Kim (Kevin) Fitzgerald; Heather Schroder; Jonathan (Meridythe) Schroder; Kari (John) Riley; Justin Schroder; Kevin Kuerbs; Clinton Schroder; Kelcey Schroder; Matt (Molly) Helmers and Betsy (Bryan) Burkhardt; great grandchildren, Rex and Lucy Fitzgerald; Kourtney James Riley and Claire, Grace and Artie Helmers; Harrison and Cohen Burkhardt. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Delbert; son, Gordon; sibling, Paul and three siblings in infancy.
