Sibley, Iowa Glenn Carl Tott, age 88 of Sibley, IA passed away peacefully on Dec. 1, Monday, December 01, 2008 at the Prairie View Home in Sanborn, IA. Private family services will be held in Sibley at a later date. Memorials preferred to donor's choice. Glenn Carl Tott was born November 24, 1920 in Boyden, Iowa. Growing up in Sibley, Glenn was active in sports and music, and graduated from Sibley High School in 1939. He attended Iowa State University, competed in college tennis, played trumpet in a dance band, and graduated with a degree in engineering. Glenn proudly served in the US Air Force as a pilot in the WWII European Theatre from 1943 to 1945. He married his college sweetheart, Annabelle, in Oct. 1943. Following WWII, Glenn and Annabelle lived in Cleveland, Ohio where Glenn worked for General Electric. In 1947, they moved to Sibley where they raised their four children and lived for over 60 years. Glenn was manager and co-owner of Sibley Concrete Products from 1947-1982. He was an active member of industry associations as well as civic organizations. He served as past president of the Osceola Community Hospital Board, Sibley Public School Board, Sibley Rotary Club, Sibley Airport Commission and Director of First National Bank. Glenn and Annabelle were active members of the United Methodist Church. They enjoyed family vacations and time spent at their cabin on Okoboji. Always an avid golfer and tennis player, Glenn enjoyed all sports and was active into his 80's. Glenn was preceded in death, just 4 months ago, by his wife of 65 years. He is survived by four children, Carl and wife Judy of Americus, GA; Timothy of Camilla, GA; Jeffrey of Sewickley, PA; Elizabeth and partner Dianne of Minneapolis, MN. Also survived by grandchildren Glenn Tott III and wife Dr. Carolina Mateus of Munich, Germany; Dr. Kristin Tott Collier and husband Jamie of Macon, GA; Natalie Tott and Jeffrey Tott of Sewickley, PA; Luke Tott of Huntington Beach, CA; and two great grandchildren, Lainey Collier and Isabel Tott. Glenn's family wishes to thank Dr. Scott Helmers for his many years of dedicated service. Thank you also to the Prairie View staff in Sanborn for their loving, tender care of both Annabelle and Glenn.
