George, IA Lorine Tiedeman, age 92 of George, IA died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the George Community Good Samaritan Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 6th at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Hull, IA with Rev. John Riggle, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery at Hull, IA. Visitation will be Sunday, July 5th from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Lorine Ruth (Kaster) Tiedeman was born July 10, 1916 on a farm near Edna, IA the daughter of Charles and Emilie (Garnmeister) Kaster. Lorine grew up on the family farm. She attended country school near Edna, IA. After completing her education she worked in a grocery store in Rock Rapids. On August 22, 1941, she was united in marriage to Ferdinand Ferd Tiedeman at the old Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. They made their home on a farm near Hull where Ferd and Lorine farmed and raised their family. They farmed from 1941 until 1982. In 1979, they built a new home in George and retired into town. On January 31, 1982, Ferd died ending their marriage of forty-one years. Lorine loved to spend time with her family and she was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, baking her famous chocolate chip cookies for her family and also baking ginger bread boys at Christmas. When asked how you make things taste so good, she would reply I stir love into it. For many years her family would take an annual fishing trip up north and her preparation would take her many days in order to have everything anyone would need. She was an active member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and was involved in the Helping Hands guild. In May of 2009, she became a resident of the George Good Samaritan Center where she died this past Thursday morning, July 2, 2009 at the age of ninety-two. She is survived by her children, Lorna and her husband, Lyle Hollander of Boyden; Myra and her husband, John Breuer of Rock Rapids; and Warren and his wife, Sheryl Tiedeman of George; her daughter-in-law, Deanna Tiedeman of Hull; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; brother, Arthur Kaster of Rock Rapids; four sisters-in-law, Mary Kaster of Corsicane, TX; Margaret Tiedeman of Sheldon; Lorie Thompson of Rock Rapids and Dorothy McCormick of Rock Rapids. Lorine was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Emilie; husband, Ferdinand; son, Dennis; two brothers, Herman and Lawrence; and two sisters, Marie Johnson and Josie Tiedeman.
