George, IA Dennis Krahling, age 71 of George, IA died Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Orange City Area Heath System in Orange City, IA. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 11th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon, IA with Rev. Craig Nissen officiating. Private family burial will take place prior to the memorial service at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, IA. Visitation will be Monday, February 10th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George, IA. Dennis Dale Krahling was born February 4, 1943 in Sibley, Iowa to Glenn and Iva (Schroder) Krahling. He attended Dale Township #2 School and George High School. He was united in marriage to Marvella Jansen of George, Iowa on June 30, 1961. They lived on the Sohl century farm near Matlock, Iowa where he raised livestock and farmed for over 50 years. Dennis had a passion for raising beef cattle and stock cows. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandson. In the fall you would find him out west in the sale barns buying cattle. Many mornings you could find him drinking coffee at the Matlock store with his friends and neighbors. In November 2011, Dennis and Marvella moved to George, Iowa. Dennis continued his morning coffee trips to Pizza Ranch where he enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. Dennis and Marvella were active members of the Matlock Reformed Church until it closed in 1987 and then they became members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon where he served on church council and was active in the Laicos group. Dennis is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marvella; his children Stephanie Kay (Kim) Ochsendorf of Boyden, Iowa , Kandyce Ann Guse of Boyden, Iowa: 5 grandchildren, Rachel (Ryan) Bolkema of Hull, Iowa, Eric (Becky) Ochsendorf of Sheldon, Iowa, Meranda (Alex) Miller of Boyden, Iowa, Jacob Guse of Boyden, Iowa, Elizabeth Guse of Boyden, Iowa; great grandchildren; Calen Bolkema and Baby Ochsendorf (Due in May). Sisters; Paula (John) Maxwell of Ashton, Iowa, Wanda (Don) Johannes of Fredric, Wisconsin and brother in law Arnold Jansen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and also many family and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Iva Krahling, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Henry and Alice Jansen and sister-in-law Noreen Jansen.
