Rock Rapids, IA Raymond Ray Todd Katka, Jr., age 20, of Rock Rapids, IA died Sunday, January 14, 2007 as a result of an automobile accident Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, Jan. 18th at Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids, with Rev. Katie Van Veldhuezen officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids, IA. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 17th from 4 " 8 PM, with the family present from 6 " 8 PM at the Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Raymond Ray Todd Katka, Jr. was born on May 13, 1986 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of Raymond T. Katka, Sr. and Phyllis Irene (Maharg) Kelly. As a young boy, Ray lived in various places such as California, Ohio, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In July of 1996 his family moved to Rock Rapids, IA where he attended Central Lyon Community Schools, active in track, basketball, and played trumpet in band. He completed his high school education at Sheldon High School and graduated in 2005. During and after high school Ray worked at various places, such as Subway, Pizza Hut, Alpha Omega in Rock Rapids, Rosenboom Machine and Tool in Sheldon and Swift Packing in Worthington, MN. He enjoyed snow boarding, bowling and paintballing with his brothers. Ray is survived by his mother and step-father, Phyllis and Darrin Kelly of Rock Rapids, IA; father and step-mother, Raymond, Sr. and Lisa Katka of Richwood, OH; a daughter, Kylie Rae Katka of Sheldon, IA; eight brothers, Bryan Katka, Michael Doiel, both of Rock Rapids, IA, Patrick Lundy of Needles, CA, Ben Lookabaugh, Bruce Lookabaugh and Dakota Higgins, all of Richwood, OH, Craig Kelly, and Timothy Kelly, both of Iowa City, IA; four sisters, Melissa Kelly of Rock Rapids, IA, Jenna Katka of Richwood, OH, Christina and husband, John Neal of Mt. Gilead, OH, and Erin Kelly of Rock Rapids, IA; maternal grandmother, Betty Clark of Columbus, OH; paternal grandmother, Patricia and husband Paul Gardner of Columbus, OH; paternal grandparents Richard and Charlotte Higgins of Richwood, OH; paternal great-grandmother, Joyce Pollard of Milwaukee, WI; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Cody Holtrop; maternal grandfather, Earl Maharg; paternal grandfather, Norbert Katka.
