Rock Rapids, IA Matthew John Stewart, age 20 of Rock Rapids, IA died Monday, January 15, 2007 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Friday, Jan. 19th at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, with Rev. George Clausen officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 18th from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Roste Funeral Home. Matthew John Stewart was born on October 15, 1986 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Mark and Leigh Ann (Collins) Stewart. He was raised in Rock Rapids and was a 2005 graduate of Central Lyon Community Schools where he was active in Mock Trial and Quiz Bowl. At the time of his death, Matt was a sophomore at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, majoring in Computer Science and Technology. He will be remembered as an intelligent, kind hearted, and friendly person who was always willing to help someone out. His passion in life was electronics and he often took them apart, figured out how they operated, and reassembled them. He will be remembered fondly and missed by his family, friends, schoolmates, and all those who knew him. He is survived by his parents; Mark and Leigh Ann Stewart of Rock Rapids, IA; a sister, Lindsey Stewart of Rock Rapids, IA; paternal grandmother, Audrey Stewart of Rock Rapids, IA; maternal grandmother, Joan Collin of Rock Rapids, IA; three uncles, Grant (and Karen) Stewart of Rock Rapids, IA, Kent (and Marie) Stewart of Spirit Lake, IA; Steve Collins of Rock Rapids, IA; two aunts, Rebecca (and Craig) Hedges of Sioux Falls, SD and Karyn (and Kevin) Raddle of Fulda, MN; thirteen cousins; and many other extended family. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Kenneth Stewart; maternal grandfather, Perry Collins; and uncle, Tim Collins.
