Lee "Jake" Schubert

Hills, MN Lee Schubert age 62 of Hills, MN, formerly of Ellsworth, MN died Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN. Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Saturday, April 10th at First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, IA, with Rev. Scott Burdsall officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation will be Friday, April 9th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills. Lee Arnold Schubert was born May 2, 1947 in Adrian, Minnesota, the son of August W. and Martha H. (Kruse) Schubert. Lee was raised on the family farm Southeast of Ellsworth and attended country school through 5th grade. He then started attending Ellsworth Public School. After his schooling Lee remained with his parents helping with the farm. In 1968 he started driving feed trucks for various elevators in the tri-state area. He also worked a few years at Chase Bag Company in Sibley, IA. In March of 1992 he worked for the Little Rock Elevator and continued working on and off for several years. Everyone knows him as Jake to this day. Lee enjoyed watching Monster Truck programs on TV, and collected toy trucks and toy tractors, especially 70 Row Crop Oliver and Farmall H&M tractors. He also enjoyed his cats, Farmer, Pudge and Arends. Lee was grateful for the care he received at the Tuff Memorial Home of Hills, especially Sharon Kessler. He is survived by one sister, Norma Wassenaar of Hills, MN; four brothers, Gary (Georgia) Schubert of Rock Rapids, IA, Roger (Cathy) Schubert Freemont, NE, Gene (Bonnie) Schubert of Lees Summit, MO and Randy (Jeannie) Schubert of Shakopee, MN; nieces and nephews, Doyle and Dean Schubert, Tammy Kooiker, Traci Powell, Arlo, April, Heidi, Ryan Schubert, Rachel Valeri, Nick and Jessi Wassenaar; and several other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Martha Schubert and an infant brother.
