George, Iowa Jeanette Lamfers age 83 of George, IA died June 19, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center in George, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 22nd at Hope Reformed Church at George, IA with Rev. David Vander Laan, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hope Reformed Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Roste Funeral Home of George. Jeanette (Korthals) Lamfers was born October 29, 1923, at George, IA the daughter of Gerrit and Ida (DeWeerd) Korthals. Jeanette grew up and attended Wheeler Country School. She was united in marriage to Raymond Lamfers on March 5, 1945, at the Hope Reformed parsonage by Herman Rosenberg. They made their home on a farm south of George for one year before moving to a farm west of George. Jeanette and her husband farmed together for many years. Along with the field work, Jeanette enjoyed the daily chores, making meals for her family, gardening, sewing, crochetting, watching birds and working in the yard mowing. She was a member of Hope Reformed Church at George and was an active member of the Esther Circle. On October 28, 2003, Jeanette became a resident of the George Good Samaritan Center where she died this past Tuesday morning, June 19, 2007 at the age of eighty-three. She is survived by her children, Shirley and her husband, John Symens of Amherst, SD; Donna and her husband, Harm Aning of Swansea, IL; Roger and his wife, Charnele Lamfers of George, IA; Jeanne and her husband, Galen Breuer of Hull, IA; and June Ranschau of Salt Lake City, UT; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren; six brothers, John (Mary) Korthals; Alfred (Carnie) Korthals; Harold (Ardis) Korthals; Ed (Pearl) Korthals; Albert (Johanna) Korthals; and Ron (Floy) Korthals all of George; three sisters, Henrietta (Alvin) Krull; Leona Geerdes and Edith (Emery) Van Tilburg all of George; and one sister-in-law, Velva Korthals of George. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant daughter, Carol; two granddaughters, Sheryl and Colleen Symens; one grandson, Christopher Ranschau; two brothers, Marion and Leonard; and one sister, Gertrude. Blessed be her memory.
