Rushmore, MN Johnny Christians, age 75 of Rushmore, MN, died Sunday, November 22, 2009 at the St. James Medical Center in St. James, MN, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, Nov. 25th at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA, with Rev. Brian Hellenga officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, IA. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 24th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Johnny Duane Christians was born on June 18, 1934 on the home place near Rushmore, MN, the son of John W. and Esther (Kruger) Christians. He grew up on a farm northwest of Sibley on the Stateline. He attended country school and later graduated from Little Rock High School. On February 12, 1960, he was united in marriage to Eileen Spieker in Little Rock, IA. After their marriage they continued to farm and live on the home place. Johnny was a member of the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA. He enjoyed farming, bowling, fishing and meeting friends for coffee. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Johnny leaves to cherish his memory his wife of forty-nine years, Eileen Christians of Rushmore, MN; one son, John S. (Lori) Christians of Rushmore, MN; three daughters, Denise (Jeff) Lynn of Lismore, MN, Sherri (Stephen) Heimgartner of Worthington, MN and Shawna Christians of Adrian, MN; nine grandchildren, John W. and Ashlee Christians, Amanda (Robbie) Veurink, Natalie, Sam and Nicholas Lynn, Austin Heimgartner, Christopher and Kaitlyn Christians; one sister, Janice (Don) Schilling of Johnstown, CO; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister.
