Henry Spykerboer

Ellsworth, Minnesota Henry "Hank" Spykerboer, age 76 of Ellsworth, IA died Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the Rock Rapids Health Centre in Rock Rapids. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 17, at the Christian Reformed Church in Rock Rapids with Rev. Cliff Hoekstra, officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Thursday August 16, from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Henry Hank Spykerboer was born March 5, 1931, on a farm in Lyon County, south of Rock Rapids, the son of William and Lena (Kracht) Spykerboer. Hank grew up and attended country school and in 1941, he moved to a farm northeast of Rock Rapids just into Minnesota. Hank was united in marriage to Wilmanette Kelderman on January 5, 1951, at Luverne, MN. They make their home on the farm that Hank lived on for over sixty-five years. Hank loved his family, farming and the Lord. He raised crops and livestock for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Christian Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, where he had served as an elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and on the Rock Rapids Christian school board. He also served on the Gospel Mission board and the Kanaranzi Elevator board. One of Hanks fondest memories which gave him great joy, was going to The Netherlands in 1997, and witnessing everything his parents had talked about for so many years. Everyone who knew Hank will remember his keen memory; he could remember many events to the day. In 1997, Hank retired from farming, but continued to live in the country on their farm northeast of Rock Rapids. Hank became a resident at the Rock Rapids Health Centre on August 2, 2007, where he died this past Tuesday morning, August 15, 2007, at the age of seventy-six. He is survived by his wife, Wilmanette of Ellsworth, MN; five daughters, Wanda Parker of George, IA; Nyla and her husband, John Sohl of Luverne, MN; Twyla and her husband, Roger Lindeman of Rushmore, MN; Sandra and her husband, David Lamfers of Sibley, IA; and Janice and her husband, Dwayne Heikes of Sibley, IA; ten grandchildren; and two great grandchildren; three sisters, Hattie Brands of Pipestone, MN; Mary and her husband, John Brands of Kenneth, MN; and Albertha Tiedeman of Luverne, MN; sister-in-law, Priscilla Spkerboer of Ellsworth, MN and a brother-in-law, Robert Dykema of Ellsworth, MN. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lena; two brothers, Chris and Bert; two sisters, Jenny Dykema and Jeanette Spykerboer in childhood; and a son-in-law, Jim Parker.
