Little Rock, IA Frances Boekhout, age 87 of Little Rock, IA died Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Country View Manor Nursing Home in Sibley, IA. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 31st at First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, IA, with Rev. Scott Burdsall officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 31st from 9:00 AM until the hour of service at the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. Jurrens Funeral Home of Little Rock is in charge of services. Frances Johanna (Schoon) Boekhout was born March 19, 1925 near George, Iowa, the daughter of John and Martha (Sleeper) Schoon. She attended rural schools near George and graduated from George High School. She continued her education at Northwestern Junior College in Orange City, IA and obtained her teaching certificate. She taught country school for several years in the George and Little Rock area. Frances was united in marriage on February 17, 1947 to Peter S. Boekhout in Worthington, MN. The couple lived briefly in Sibley, IA, before moving to Little Rock, IA, where she and Pete resided until moving to Country View Manor in Sibley in 2009. On September 12, 2010 her husband Pete passed away after 63 years of marriage. Frances attended the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. She served as librarian for some years at the Little Rock Public Library and also served as news correspondent for the Lyon County Reporter, Sibley Tribune and Gazette, and Lyon County News for nearly 40 years. She was a charter member of the Little Rock American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, reading, cooking, canning, attending her grandchildrens sporting events, and cheering on the Northwestern College Red Raiders. She believed in the importance of a good education. Most of all, she had great love and pride for her grandchildren and dedication to her husband, Peter. She is survived by her daughter, Connie (husband Keith) Moulton of Argyle, TX; her son, Lonnie (wife Connie) Boekhout of Marcus, IA; a grandson, Dr. Scott Moulton of Argyle, TX; a granddaughter, Miranda (husband Adam) Riediger of Sgt. Bluff, IA; and a grandson, Jordan Boekhout of Marcus, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha Schoon; husband, Peter; a sister, Angeline Elias; and a brother, Henry Schoon of Sioux Falls, SD.
