Gusta Grace Groenewold

Sibley, Iowa Gusta Groenewold, age 94 of Sibley, Iowa died Monday, September 1, 2008 at the Country View Manor in Sibley. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 4th, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, IA, with Rev. Scott Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at the Holman Township Cemetery at Sibley. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 3rd fro m 4 " 8 PM, with the family present from 6 " 8 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Gusta Grace Groenewold was born on October 4, 1913, the daughter of Harm and Martha (Nachtigal) Behrens in Sibley, Iowa. On December 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to John D. Groenewold. Following their marriage they farmed in the Sibley area. Gusta was a very active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley. She served as an organist, taught Sunday school for many years, served as president of the womens circle and was the first lady to serve on the church council. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, embroidery, crocheting and baking pies for various church and community activities. Gusta is survived by three sons; Earl Bud (wife Shirley) Groenewold of Mankato, MN, Richard Dick (wife Diann) Groenewold of Boise, ID and Robert Bob (wife Lisa) Groenewold of Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John in 1975; two sisters and seven brothers.
