Little Rock, Iowa Arnold L. Heidebrink, age 81 of Little Rock, IA died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab in Sibley, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday May 4, 2013 at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA with Pastor Michael Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation will be Friday, May 3rd from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock. Arnold Lee Heidebrink was born on February 20, 1932 in Little Rock, Iowa, the son of Onno and Pauline (Stierler) Heidebrink. He grew up in Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1949. After high school, he was employed at the local lumber yard until being drafted into the United States Army. On March 3, 1952, Arnold was united in marriage to Marilyn Russman and two days later he left for active duty and served in Germany during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954. Arnold and his wife Marilyn lived in Little Rock all of their married lives and raised six children. After 51 years of marriage, Marilyn passed away on December 10, 2003. Arnold was a member of the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock and served on the Consistory. He was also a member of the Buss-Johnson American Legion Post 316 and the Little Rock Town & Country. Over the years, Arnold had various jobs including milk hauling, Arnies Plumbing & Heating, bus driving and then coast to coast truck driving. Arnold & Marilyn enjoyed traveling the country visiting their son Alan where he was stationed in the Navy. Some of his hobbies over the past few years were making Wahoo game boards for his family, going to Joels house to watch his turkeys, stopping at the casino after Dr. appointments to play the penny slots, and tea time with his friends. One of his favorite meals was fresh walleye and he enjoyed going out to eat with his family. He was always interested in his grandchildrens activities and attended when his health permitted. He will be greatly missed. Arnold is survived by six children, Mary and Lloyd Lupkes of Rock Rapids, IA, Ruth Ann and Lawrence Wiersma of Sibley, IA, Karen and Melvin Winter of Little Rock, IA, Julia and Kent Peters of Little Rock, IA, Joel and Becky Heidebrink of Little Rock, IA and Alan and Wendy Heidebrink of Weatherford, TX; sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Elaine) Heidebrink of Little Rock, IA; two sisters, Glenda (Darold) Hollander of Branson, MO and Mavis Palmer of Spirit Lake, IA; and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; parents, Onno and Pauline; and brother-in-law, Bill Palmer.
