Paul Adam Krahling

Ashton & Sibley, Iowa Paul Krahling, age 72 of Ashton, IA died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, CA. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, with Pastor Scott Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley. Visitation will be Thursday, February 5th from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 5:30-8 P.M. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Paul Adam Krahling , the son of Erwin and Emma (VanderBurg) Krahling, was born November 1, 1936. He grew up in rural Ashton and attended country school before graduating from Ashton High School in 1955. On October 22, 1955, he married his sweetheart, Shirley Rehborg at the Zion Lutheran Church near Ocheyedan, IA. They had two children, Julie and Jeff and spent most of their married lives on the farm where Paul was raised. Paul enjoyed farming, camping, hunting, fishing, woodworking, raising flowers, and spending winters in Palm Springs, CA. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to tease. He will be remembered for his special ability to strike up a conversation and make friends with anyone. Paul was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sibley, where he served on the church council. He spent many years as a 4-H Leader. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-three years, Shirley Krahling of Ashton; son and best friend, Jeff (wife, Brenda) Krahling of Sibley; son-in-law, Dean Beenken of Buffalo Center, IA; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Darren and Jared Beenken, Becky (husband, Mark) Sloan and their children, Makenna, Caleb and Aubrey; Jessica (husband, Josh) Dagel and their children, Dawson, Ashlynn, Pierson and Zion; and Andrea and Joshua Krahling; cousin-brother, Don Krahling of Yuma, AZ; one sister, Barb (husband, Dave) Else of Cedar Falls, IA; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn (husband, Ron) Bycroft of Fort Collins, CO, Bev (husband, Cliff) Rowe of Council Bluffs, IA and Donna Kruse of Estherville, IA; aunts, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; daughter, Julie Beenken; and three brothers-in-law, Jack Kruse, Duane Rehborg and Jim Wingate.
