Rock Rapids, Iowa Hazel Lohman, age 97 of Webster City, IA, formerly of Rock Rapids, IA died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Crestview Senior Living in Webster City, IA. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 17th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. Dave Christiansen officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Sunday, March 16th from 2 " 6 PM, with the family present from 4 " 6 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Hazel Helen Lohman was born February 2, 1911 in Rock Rapids, IA to Albert and Lillie (Griesse) Kostman. She and her family moved to Bloomer, WI when she was seven years old and back to Rock Rapids when she was 13. She took normal training during High School. Hazel taught Country School near Steen, MN for five years and five years near Doon, IA. She married Alvin Lohman February 26, 1938 and discontinued teaching and became a homemaker. She maintained a large garden and helped Alvin with the day to day work on the farm. She was a member of rural Homemakers Club, taught Sunday school, quilted at church and worked quarter-back club dinners. In 1972 Hazels husband, Alvin died after 34 years of marriage. Hazel remained on the farm and continued the day to day operation of the farm. In 1980 Hazel moved into town to a home on So. Greene Street where she remained until the fall of 2005 when she moved to Webster City, IA to be near her daughter Marilyn. This past Wednesday, March 12th Hazel died at the Crestview Senior Living Apartment in Webster City, IA at the age of 97. Hazel is survived by one daughter, Marilyn (Don) Henry of Webster City, IA; three grandchildren, Scott (Katie) Henry of Altoona, IA, David (Jennie) Henry of Ankeny, IA and Melissa (Tyler) Dawson of Webster City, IA; six great grandchildren, Sam, Ellie and Ike of Altoona, IA, Alec and Avery Fuhs and Alleyna Dawson of Webster City, IA; five sisters, Norma Stiegelmeyer of Rock Rapids, IA, Marvel Huskinson of Klamath Falls, OR, Mildred Holst of Fort Dodge, IA, Eleanor Rognas of Sioux Falls, SD, and Marcille Wallner of Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers, Wilmer (Bud) Kostman of Detroit Lakes, MN and Vernon Kostman of Frazee, MN. She was preceded in death by parents, her husband, Alvin Lohman; and one sister, Evelyn Hunt.
