Sibley, IA Jack Davis, age 89 of Sibley, IA died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, with Reverend Scott Meyer officiating. Private family interment of his cremains will take place at a later date. Visitation will be Friday, October 8, 2010 from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Jack Arthur Davis was born on February 5, 1921, the son of Clifford and Sara (Ness) Davis in Luverne, MN. He grew up in Luverne and graduate from the Luverne High School. On September 26, 1941 he was united in marriage to Violet Wulf in Luverne, MN. After their marriage they moved to Sibley in 1951. He and Violet owned and operated the Sibley Cleaners on main street for many years. After selling the business, Jack served as the Osceola County Auditor for ten years. Jack was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, where he served on the church council; he was active in the fellowship club and Mens Bible Study. He volunteered at the Human Services office and served as treasurer of the Boy Scouts for twenty-five years. Jack was an avid reader, enjoyed golfing, playing cards, dancing and was a diehard Twins and Vikings fan. Jack is survived by two children, Debra K. (Tom) Stewart of Sibley, IA and Judd (Bridget) Davis of Mount Morris, IL; five grandchildren, Steven Lee (Kim) Davis, Robert Mitchell (Tina) Davis, Cameron Davis Stewart, Wilder Davis Stewart and Benjamin Justin Davis; two great-grandchildren, Justin R. Davis and Jonathan W. Davis; two brothers, Robert (Gerri) Davis of Denver, CO and Gordon (Eunice) Davis of Roseville, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife after sixty-eight years of marriage, Violet Davis; one sister, Lou White; and two brothers, Leonard and Maynard Davis.
