Betty Jean Rabey, age 82 of Larchwood, IA died Thursday April 9, 2009 at Golden Living Center - Covington Heights in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 11th at the United Church of Christ in Larchwood, IA. Visitation will be Friday, April 10th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Larchwood. Betty Jean Rabey was born October 17, 1926 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of George and Sena Embertson. She was raised in Sioux Falls, SD and attended the community schools. Betty Jean was united in marriage to Martin Duane Rabey. Together they spent all of their married lives living in Larchwood, IA. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Larchwood, the Royal Neighbors of America and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed listening to the Statler Brothers, traveling and spending winters down south. She especially enjoyed her great-grandchildren and often would have sleep over at her home. She loved crocheting, card club, Bowling, fishing, Red Hat functions, reading and watching the Twins and Vikings on TV. On March 30, 1992 Bettys husband, Duane died after 43 years of marriage following a short illness. Betty continued living in her home in Larchwood until March of 2009, when she entered Golden Living Center - Covington Heights in Sioux Falls, SD, where she remained until her death this past Thursday, April 9, 2009. She is survived by her son, James (Glenda) Crawford of Sioux Falls, SD; a granddaughter, Jennifer Schaefer of Sioux Falls, SD; and three great-grandchildren, Kenyon, Kira and Kaleb Immeker; a sister, Lorayne Woolheater of Sioux Falls, SD; and a sister-in-law, Francine Embertson of Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sena Embertson; husband, Duane Rebey; two sisters, Donna Kettelsen and Georgina Bell; and one brother, George Embertson.
