Bernadette "Bernie" Bauer

NOTICE: Larchwood, Iowa Bernadette Bernie Bauer, age 83, of Larchwood, IA, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM, Monday, March 12th at The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood, IA, Father Jeff Schleisman officiating. Burial will follow at Larchwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 11th from 3:00 to 8:00 PM with the family present 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Church of St. Mary in Larchwood. There will be a Rosary and Vigil service beginning at 7:30 PM at the church. Bernadette Bernie Bauer, age 83 passed away Wednesday, March 7th, 2012 at the Dougherty Hospice house in Sioux Falls, SD. Bernie was born on July 14, 1928 to William and Clara (Bruggeman) Kramer. She lived her whole life in Larchwood. She attended St. Marys School and was a lifetime member of St. Marys Catholic Church. On June 4, 1954 she was united in marriage to Donald Bauer at St. Marys Church. Prior to her marriage, Bernie worked at several businesses in Larchwood. In July, 2011, she and Don moved into the Good Samaritan Assisted Living Center in Sioux Falls. Some of her most valuable possessions in life were her children, grandchildren, family and friends, and a good card game. Bernie was an excellent cook and baker and loved to share her goodies with family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Bernie is survived by her husband Don of 57 years; 2 sons, Daryl (Carolyn) Bauer of Sioux Falls, SD and Mark (Maureen) Bauer of Rapid City, SD; 4 grandchildren, Carrie (Josh) Carr of Spirit Lake, IA, Chris Bauer of Sioux Falls, SD, Andrew (Abbey) Bauer of Aberdeen, SD and Sarah Bauer of Minneapolis, MN; 2 great-grandchildren, Briggs and Bennett Bauer; brothers, Leonard Kramer of Rock Rapids, IA and Ronald (Arla) Kramer of Larchwood, IA; sister, Mary (Roger) Hartman of Ida Grove, IA; and sister-in-law, Betty (Marvin) Kramer of Brandon, SD. She was preceded in death by, her parents; 5 brothers, Luverne, Wilbur, Virgil, Marvin and Melvin; and sister, Leota Rollag.
