Clara R. Knobloch

Rock Rapids Clara Rose Knobloch, age 91 of Rock Rapids, IA died unexpectedly, Thursday, March 5, 2009 at her home in Rock Rapids, IA. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday March 9th at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery at Lester. Visitation will be Sunday, March 8th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall. Clara Rose Knobloch was born April 4, 1917 on the family farm near Alvord, Iowa, the daughter of Ernst J. and Caroline (Feucht) Knobloch. She was raised there and attended Logan No. 5 school and helped with the day to day house duties. As a young lady she moved to Peoria, IL, where she worked doing housework. She returned a few years later and lived with her parents. In 1959, she and her parents moved to Rock Rapids, IA and she cared for her parents until their deaths. In 1978 she moved into an apartment in Rock Rapids where she remained. She attended the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA and also a member of the Merrill Pioneer Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed babysitting children in her home, quilting and various types of handwork. She also enjoyed cooking and baking. She is survived by four siblings, Frieda Gerber of Eureka, IL, Elsie Leuthold of Lester, IA, Nettie (Ervin) Banwart of West Bend, IA and Ezra (Marie) Knobloch of Inwood, IA; a special cousin, Ruth Nester of Rock Rapids, IA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernst and Caroline Knobloch; step-mother, Mary Moser; five brothers, Clarence Knobloch, Otto Knobloch, Carl Knobloch, Walter Knobloch and infant Alvin Knobloch; three sisters-in-law, Emma Knobloch, Anna Knobloch and Iola Knobloch; and two brothers-in-law, Edward Gerber and Andrew Leuthold.
