Sibley, Iowa Roger M. Brody, age 77 of Sibley, Iowa died Friday, March 14, 2008 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, March 20th at the United Methodist Church in Sibley, with Pastor Douglas Harding officiating. Burial will be private for family in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley. Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday, March 19th at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Roger Merlin Brody was born September 30, 1930, in Allendorf, Iowa, the son of Clifford and Gertie (Molendorp) Brody. He attended country school and Sibley High School and was a member of the National Guard. He married Martha Baker on August 18, 1950. They lived in Ocheyedan, Iowa where he worked at Schuster Gas Station as a mechanic until 1955 when he started working for Lyle Koopman as a painter. In 1957 they moved to Sibley, Iowa. In 1964 he started working for his parents who owned the Brody Service Station and Caf in Allendorf, Iowa until 1967 when his mother passed away and the Station and Caf was sold. He then started his own painting and decorating business; Brody Painting & Decorating. After 20 years of operating his own business, he retired. He then came out of retirement to do custodial work with Martha at the Osceola County Courthouse. They both retired in 2000. Roger and Martha were married for 57 years and to this union they had five children. Roger is survived by his wife, Martha Brody of Sibley; 5 children, Joanne Meinders of Sibley, Dorothy (husband Harlan) Langstraat of Rochester, MN, Robert (wife Nancy) Brody of Menomonie, WI, Paul (wife Cheri) Brody of Havelock, NC and Brian (wife DeeDee) Brody of York, PA; 23 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sister, Marlys (husband Denis) Breuer of Lake Panasoffkee, FL; brother, Larry (wife Judy) Brody of Newton, IA; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Gertie Brody and one nephew, Dan Breuer.
