Sibley, IA Darlene A. Buchholtz, age 81 of Sibley, IA died Wednesday, November 06, 2013 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA. Memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA with Reverend Terry Simm officiating. Burial will be prior to the service at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley, IA. Visitation will be Friday, November 8th, from 2:00 - 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley, IA. Darlene Arlene Buchholtz was born on March 22, 1932 in Sibley, IA, the daughter of Henry H. and Lena (Norman) Kruger. She attended Allendorf-Holman #11 country school and graduated from Sibley High School. On August 24, 1950, Darlene was united in marriage to Albert Buchholtz at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley. Darlene worked for JC Penney for four years and the Sibley Ocheyedan Community School for fourteen years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was very active as a Sunday School Superintendent and catechism teacher. Darlene was very active in the Breast Cancer Survivor Group in Sibley. She was also involved in the church as a senior high sponsor and was a member of a married group called the Prime Timers . Darlene enjoyed crafts, camping and sewing. She was very much involved with and interested in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She would call often to get updates and see how everyone was doing. She will be greatly missed. Darlene is survived by her three sons, Roger (Gail) Buchholtz of Sibley, IA, Wayne (Pam) Buchholtz of Dubuque, IA, and Gary (Barb) Buchholtz of Tea, SD; one daughter, Carol (Scott) Smidt of Larchwood, IA; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Maggie Luitjens of Ashton and Joan Plehall of Sibley; and many nieces and nephews and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert; infant sons, Dean and Duane.
