Hills, MN Robert Nerison, age 79 of Hills, MN died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at the Luverne Hospice Cottage in Luverne, MN. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 25th at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, MN, with Pastor Mary Dodgeson officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Hills. Visitation will be Friday, July 24th from 3:00 to 8:00 PM with the family present from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, at Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Robert Dean Nerison was born on the family farm east of Hills, MN on November 10, 1929, to Norman and Inez Nerison. Most of his school years were spent in Hills, except for a period during the early 40's when his family lived in Minneapolis. He graduated from Hills High School and attended Ag College at the University of Minnesota for two years before returning to Hills to farm. He wed Beverly Rye in June of 1952 and together they had three daughters all of whom loved growing up on the farm and "helping" dad. He was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for most of his life and held a position on the HBC School Board during the early 70's. He retired from farming in 1994 and worked for the Hills Elevator for several years. In 1999, he married Lorraine Rye and moved to Renner, South Dakota, where he attended West Nidaros Lutheran Church. In 2007 he moved to the assisted living facility in Hills, MN, and from January to July 2009 he lived in the Tuff Home in Hills. On July 22, 2009, he passed from this earth after spending a week in The Hospice Cottage in Luverne. He was known for his kind heart and generous soul, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Valerie Saarloos, Luverne, MN; Roberta Nerison-Low (Ed), Ann Arbor, Michigan; Susan Olson (Kevin) , Madison, MN., and grandchildren Kjerstee (Ryan) Miller, Karin (Josh) Falness, Kallie Olson and Aaron Olson; sister, Shirley Olson of Hills, MN. As well as his step-children Gary Rye, Diane Dahmers, Dale Rye, Brian Rye, Helen Albright, David Rye and Laurie Nielsen and their children as well as many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson, Chad Saarloos.
