Sibley, IA Raymond Braun age 80 of Sibley, IA died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, with Reverend James Berka officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant view Cemetery in Little Rock, IA. Visitation will be Friday, September 14th from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley. The Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley is handling arrangements. Raymond Earl Braun was born on August 10, 1932 in Sibley, IA, the son of Emil and Minnie (Rust) Braun. He grew up and attended school in Sibley and later graduated from the Sibley High School in 1951. On November 23, 1952, Ray was united in marriage to Eileen Tiesler at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley. To this union one son John was born. Ray enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 10, 1953 and was honorably discharged on February 25, 1955. After Ray returned home, he and his wife Eileen settled on a farm south of Rushmore and farmed until 1993. Eileen passed away on April 14, 1998 and the year following her death Ray moved to George, IA and later met and married Joan (Orwig) Jensen on July 7, 2001 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley. They continued to live in the George area until just recently when they moved into Sibley. Ray was a member of the VFW in Bigelow, MN and the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley. He enjoyed farming and was a John Deere man. He also liked doing things outside such as mowing, fishing and working with wood. Ray is survived by his second wife of eleven years, Joan Braun of Sibley, IA; son, John Braun of Eagan, MN; three step-sons, Tim (Tina) Jensen of Hartley, IA, Mar Jensen and special friend Nanette Pellett of Rushmore, MN and Doug (Kari) Jensen of Doon, IA; step-grandson, Zach Jensen and step-great grandson, Aiden Jensen both of Hartley, IA; two sisters-in-law, Wava Braun of Wheatridge, Colorado and Luetta Braun of Rock Rapids, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Eileen; four brothers, Ed, Al, Harold and Merlin Braun; and one brother Carl Braun in infancy.
