Larry Wayne Rockman

Sibley, IA Larry Rockman, age 68 of Sibley, IA, died Thursday, December 24, 2009 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Memorial service will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley, with Reverend Terry Simm officiating. Burial will be private with family at a later date in the Worthington Cemetery in Worthington, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday, January 14th at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Larry Wayne Rockman was born on June 10, 1941, the son of Fred and Minnie (Hohenssee) Rockman in Worthington, MN. He grew up in the Bigelow and Worthington, MN area and graduated from Worthington High School in 1959. He later attended LeMars School of Cosmetology in LeMars, IA in 1964. He then in 1965, started working at Esther Schobery Beauty Salon in Worthington. In 1969, he purchased the business and renamed it Mr. Larrys and owned and operated it for thirty-eight years retiring in 2007. Larry was a member of the National Guard for six years. He was a lover of horses, liked gardening, canning and visiting his family and friends. Larry is survived by one sister, Rochelle (husband, Don) Buchman of Sibley, IA and one brother, Jerome (wife, Nancy) Rockman of Mason City, IA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Johnson.
